My Experience with Road Armor Corp.I found a cool website at http://www.roadarmor.com. I have a 93 Jeep Wrangler with a worn out top and so I needed some kind of new top. Their tops looked impressive and well designed, although expensive (4k with the options). I ordered one. In September I got an email from them saying that there was a top that was just finished, and the owner had a wreck and so didn't need it for a while, and if I would pay for it in full, they would ship the top the next week. So I mailed them the check. It cleared. I kept waiting. I recieved two emails, both of them claimed that my top was shipping in a few days. Nothing showed up. All my emails and all my phone calls recieved no response all winter. I froze my butt off. I eventually sent them a lawyer letter. After the 6 or 7 months wait I received my top towards the end of April, just as it was warming up. It looks really cool. It is quiet. There are a few problems with it. It leaks a little, and squeaks some too. But overall, I like it. The quality control of the assembly could be better - It was missing some parts, and had some shipping damage. Jim at Road Armor Corp. has been responsive to me since the top shipped, we have exchanged email several times. I have faith that the these problems will be resolved eventually. When it arrived, it had better parts than I ordered. It had a back cabin light, which is OK but I'm mildly indifferent to, and it had a big nice metal rack on top of the hard top instead of the third tail light and the roof rack strips that I ordered. The roof rack interferes with the T-tops from rising up to get air in the cabin, but it is otherwise more functional and I like it better than what I ordered. I have already used it to haul lumber. I have gotten lots of strange looks and nice comments, and it's the only one I've seen like it in Austin, and there are a LOT of Jeeps in Austin. Back to my main page. |
