Grog's Thoughts and Opinions

Here are some of the more eloquent of Grog's writings about the planet:

There are now 6 billion people on this planet. 1 million years ago there were thought to be a stable population of 1 million people worldwide. 990,000 years later there were still a stable population of a million people. Ten thousand years ago or so came the harnessing of fire, which led to farming, villiages, roads, trade routes, cities, specialization of the work force, monarchy, electricity, computers, etc. We are at six thousand times the natural population density that the earth will naturally support. When deer become too numerous for the land, they starve, and have a natural balance there. Will the human population increase forever? Can it increase forever? The farming midwest in the USA has gone from six feet of topsoil to six inches in a few generations.
